Swallows again

The infant swallows are getting bigger, and their parents are busy from dawn till dusk collecting insects (which is much appreciated by me!)

I wish, when we had our roof renovated a few years ago, that we'd thought about making places for swifts and swallows to nest. I think they're wonderful, and I'm deeply jealous!

You have made me wonder what has happened to our swallows. We have had two lots nesting this year in the stone pigsties but I havent seen them for a few days. Hope they haven't gone - that means the end of summer!

Rob, this is our summerhouse, but there are lots of swallows nesting here because there is a big barn across the yard, where they have lived for years. I feel very privileged that some have chosen to move over to us.

Elizabeth, when I looked today the nest was empty, but the sky is still full of swooping wings, I don't think they'll go quite yet!

No, you are right. They are still here, thank goodness!
